India Awaits a Golden Moment
“There is no bigger thing in this world than giving joy to a billion hearts”, this quote from Navjot Singh Siddhu is very true indeed. I cannot explain by merely writing a blog post that how exciting the last seven days have been, passion of cricket has engulfed India and the entire nation really looks forward to what could be a defining moment in Indian cricket.
Firstly in the quarter final game India nailed the Aussies at Mohali, and now with a more than convincing win over arch-rivals Pakistan, India clearly look to be the favorites for winning the World Cup and give the Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar a priceless gift for his 20 years of service to Indian cricket. India have gone through a tougher path than Sri Lanka to reach the World Cup Finals, and what has been more admiring and appreciable about this Indian team is the fielding standards that they have shown in the last two games. I believe that India have won 40 % their last 2 matches against Australia and Pakistan mainly because of our fielding. India looks solid in the batting department and the bowling is peaking at exactly the right time.
Looking back at the last few games I find that Indian team is playing in the personality of their captain. M.S. Dhoni is the “God of Calmness” and merely his presence on the field even though he is not in great batting form has helped a great deal to ease the pressure on the team during crunch situations. I don’t understand why all of my friends on facebook keep keep criticizing him even after we win a game :(. With Sehwag at his agressive best, master blaster chasing his 100th ton, Gambhir taming the spinners, Kohli batting brilliantly, and Yuvraj and Raina tonking the ball, our team looks to be a perfect combination of youth and experience.
Bowling was considered to be the weaker part of the Indian team before the world cup, some experts even said that India cannot win the World Cup with this bowling attack, but it seems that our bowlers have heard them and are performing quite well in the last 2 games, Zaheer has been brilliant as usual, and so are Ashwin and Harbhajan, Yuvraj has also managed to chip in with wickets every now and then, the only weak link in the bowling attack according to me is Munaf Patel, I am not saying he is a bad bowler but occasionally he becomes quite predictable with his line and length which results in his downfall.
Finally, what I think is that a bigger factor in the world cup finals will be a team’s ability to handle pressure. The team which will handles pressure better will win the world cup. The entire nation awaits witnessing a “Golden Moment”, “I Hope” we will win it this time.
Cheer for India & Bleed Blue..!! \m/ 😀
